Ferry Building Again!

It was an overcast day. A bit chilly but not too unbearable. We ended up chowing on those famous Roli Roti porchetta sandwiches again. Man, that stuff is good. A decent crowd considering the weather. Seems like there were more tourist than locals today. This was a good outing. Something I look forward to even though we are there everyweek.

Pink Friday

Still working on getting the pics right on this blog thing. Anyways, just click on the pics to see the glorious details if you like. This outfit was picked out by Wifey. I like it. I know traditionally, one is not suppose to wear argyle in the spring/summer time but I'm loving the pattern lately. I realize that I'm wearing the same bow tie as in one of the previous post. It's looking more like this is one of the most versatile tie I have in the collection. Who knew? I thought it'd be a blue or red tie that would be the easiest to match...nope, turns out it's yellow. Yippee for Fridays...hope you all have a great day!

I Gots Two Lockers Like Bonds

These are my two lockers at my work place. Sorta like being back in high school again. Pretty convenient. I can stash my stuff here whilst I'm running on the trail by my workplace.

My Shoe Collection At Work

This my collection of shoes at work. It's mostly old shoes that I don't wear too much anymore. I use to them to go to places that I would prefer not to be in. I mainly use the sneaks and have never had to actually use the wellies in an actual situaton. A coworker jokingly remarked about my collection at work. How dare they mock my shoe collection? It's my source of pride. Like Fredo, I want respect! I'm smauurt! Haha. Hope you readers are having a good day.

Wifey's Signature Stew/Soup

This is Wifey's claim to fame in our household. It's a Chicken Italian Stew that's made with chicken (of course), red potatoes, artichokes, lemons, capers, chopped parsley, white wine and chicken broth. It's a lemony soup that is great for a chilly winter's day but is light enough for those hot summer days. My dad is usually not a vocal person when it comes to food. You never know if he likes something or not. This is the one dish that gets him excited. Yes, that is indeed a Slim Jim in the back. Is there a better culinary combo than that?!

Lunch At City Restaurant

This is where Sebastian and I went to lunch. The City Restaurant. Third week in a row. I had the bun cha today. The bun was al dente which is a rarity. The nuoc cham was decent. Good portions. The only gripe is that the pork was not charred enough for that "wow" factor to kick in. This may be our favorite place to go for lunch now. We may hit up a hot dog stand next week.

An Almost Decent Shot

We are getting closer to getting that decent pic of Sebastian. He only resents the idea of his mug being online due to exploitation purposes. I understand. I feel the same way at times.

Sebastian To The Rescue

Here's my friend Sebastian who was kind enough to give me a car ride back to our holding cells at work.

Tires Needs Balancing

Just got my tires rotated 2 weeks ago and now the car is vibrating when I hit 50 mph. Man, this sucks. I hate car maintenance because it takes me out of my daily groove. Sure wish I knew how to fix my own car. Not in my personality though. I guess that means I'll always be at the mercy of auto mechanics and people who know how to drive a shit stick...I mean a stick shift...haha.

Bass Weejuns

The older I get, the morer I look back to taking up the trends from my youth. I suppose that why some people tend to dress "of their vintage" so to speak. Here's my newest pair of penny loafers. Pennies have become appealing to me again. I hope that my "taste" is timeless so I don't look too dated when I'm 95. Time will tell. Of course, by then, I'm pretty sure I won't care as much as to what I have on. I'll prolly be happy that I can still zip myself up. Haha. 1971 and 1974 are the pennies in the shoes in case your wondering. There's a not so secret meaning to those years. Have a good day reader(s)!

Hermès Tie

My one piece of luxury cravat by Hermes. I like the little farmer dude. It was my way of saying I'm still of the people while perpetrating as a bourgeoisie. In my 20's, I had a serious tie fetish. I think it was because it was one of the few things a young fella could do to spiffy up a wardrobe without breaking the bank. Nowadays, I regret some of the patterns I picked. On the other hand, I'm so fortunate to have not purchased some patterns that was even questionable then! Lately, I've been into repp ties only. I suppose my inner preppy is coming more to the fashion forefront lately. I suppose the prep was always a part of my clothing attire but I never really fully acknowledge it till recently. Or at least embrace it wholeheartedly till now.

Allergies

Went running with Sebastian today. He is doing a good job. He has allergies from running. Still not getting a full frontal...yet...

A funny pic part deux

A funny pic

The Elusive Sebastian

We shall see if we will ever get a good shot of Mr. Sebastian, the camera ninja.

First Day Back

The first day back from my usual three day weekend. It was a bit different in that Wifey was off that day as well. Memorial Day. We didn't do too much since it was too cloudy and chilly where we live. Stayed home most of the weekend but it was still a nice relaxing time. Sometimes, it's better to just stay in and hang with the family. I think it was the right call since the Godfather aka Marlon Brando said a man who doesn't spend time with his family is not a man.

Lunch At Delfina

Lunch today at Pizzeria Delfina-the California Street locale. The guy in white is Anthony Strong. He's a certified pizza maker in the Neapolitan style! We had two of the salsiccia pizza and they were delightfully delectable. The thin charred crust held up the to the right amount of toppings. It's our favorite. We also tried a deep fried bread with cheese appetizer. Supposedly, this was the dish that changed the life of one of the managers there. A place will we always go back to.

Oer Bier

Very upfront alcohol taste. Make the other flavas hard to detect. A dark amber ale with 9% of goodness. Alcohol smell is very present. Almost a whiskey like taste to this one. Prolly the last time for me with this one.

Ara Bier

A very crisp tripel. Almost scentless to the smell cuz maybe it's so smooth. A bit amberish gold. Good for a summer day tipple. Orangey mid tongue taste.

Dulle Teve

Alcohol taste upfront with a herbally aftertaste. Some bitterness but not too shabby. A tripel style beer that's almost like a Duvel.

Achel Trappist Beer

Like most fellas, I'm a big fan of blondes. No, get your minds out of the bad parts of your brain, I was referring to beers, my good readers. This one was poured with a nice little foamy head. It tasted like most tripel but with some spice. Sorta tasted like beers from La Chouffe. This one is made by one of the seven Trappist Order that still make the o.g. abbey ales.

Mahr's Brau

A dark golden lager with a slight malty aftertaste. After a while, the hoppiness real comes through. I had this with miso cod and risotto. It was an U.N. dinner: Germany, Japan and Italy all repped theyselves good and tasted good in my Chinese tummy.

Oaxacan Red Mole Chicken Tamales From Primavera

With the economic downturn, it seems like street food is on the uptick. This is Mexican street food done right. Great ingredients, great flavors and cooked (steamed) fresh. We got the last three of these bad boys. It looks like crap but don't judge these books by their cover. They were so juicy and succulent. Not like the tamales we all get from the local taquerias where the cornmeal is akin to sawdust. It oozed out it's mole juice like a small little volcano. The shredded chicken had flava, nuff said. We'll be back for more in the near future. Primavera is a stall that's opened at the SF Ferry Building on Saturdays.

Noir de Dottignies

A brewski award for the taxing work week. This was a dark one as the name would suggest. Nice malty taste and very pleasant smelling.

Oh, To Be On The Road

It takes me about 45 minutes to get home at night. In the mornings, it's about a 30-35 minutes commute. Not too bad but I do envy those people who's commute is only 10 minutes or less. I suppose the silver line is that I like where I live. This pic is the scene from the office where I work. It's a semi-late Friday afternoon...y'all know that feelin'

My Man Maximilian

My co-worker Maximimilian (not his government name) asked me what I was eating for brunch today. I told him I had udon, some boiled veggies, raw thin sliced rib eye beef and a potato. Nutritious enough to go for a run this afternoon with Sebastian.

Friday!

It's Friday so here's me letting loose as much as possible in a restrained office setting.

Alertness Elixir

I need a big cup of joe to get me going in the morning. Otherwise, I'm a walking zombie. Here's my newish mug from Peets. I like it and I only drink Peets swill or higher. Haha. Happy Friday to all! Yippee! A three day weekend is nigh.

Genmai Ale

Ah, a brewski at the end of the day. Today's selection is from Japan. The producer of this lovely adult sodie pop uses brown rice in the fermentation process. It's like drinking brown rice tea in a beer form. Very smooth with a slight astringency. :p

Shopping at Thien Thanh

Shopping with locals in the eastside Ho. Good selection of delectable goodies for market in the middle of purgatory. Don't make me go here every week.

Surprise Visit To Wifey

Went to get my oil change and tire rotation done last week. Turns out the wheels are unbalanced again. At lunch today, I tried taking the Jeep back to the mechanic to get it fixed. Unfortunately, he didn't have time today. So I tried to be as productive as I can. I dropped off a package at UPS and conducted a surprise visit to the wifey. Here she is eating lunch in her classroom in a school in the eastside Ho. A lot of crying kids today...must be that time of the school year.

My friend's in a band!

Posted with LifeCast

My friend Ebenezer is on the far left. Kinda hard to make out from the pic. He's a bass player in a band called Baru. I've heard their stuff before and they are pretty good. They have a myspace page. Check it out: www.myspace.com/barurock

Daily Brunch

My mid morning break. I don't eat breakfast and I'm hungry before lunch, so this is my brunch. Greek style veggies with marinade/baked chicken thighs...mmm...got a bunch of "smells good" from my peers. Thank the wifey for that one. Ate at the usual grub station and eavesdropped on a few convos. Nothing too juicy to report. Just the usual gripe of being overworked and underappreciated.

Last part of my personal life

So this is the last thing I see of my own life before I become a "humble civil servant." I had a boss once who would crank up the last tune (way, way, way up) in his beamer right before he stepped into his office. It was his way of saying "fuck you job!" Jobs...a love/hate relationship indeed. It offers so much but takes away too. Have a good readers day. I'll post more thoughts and bon mots as work life progresses.

My Home Made Fried Chicken

Marinate in buttermilk and other spices overnight. Coat with a flour mixture and then 300 degress for 15 minutes. Deeelish...

Los Gatos J. Crew

Newest one in the Bay Area (if you can call L.G. that). Relatively spacious but selection was rather limited by the bland spring collection they have going on right now. Hoping for a more colorful/retro-innovative summer.

Another day of grindin'

Man, what a day! Things got so busy in the afternoon. I basically did nearly a whole day's work in half a day. Not that I'm complaining since I have a J.O.B. Man, where's that beer at now?

Trad Me In The Morning

Early in the morning...

Lunch With The Fellas

Lunch with my cast of homies (Ebenezer on the left and Sebastian is on the right; not their government names) in a non descript locale in the 'Ho. Food was very tasty for the price. This joint has this pricing scheme where everything on the lunch menu is $6.99. You can order anything from pho to bun cha and it's only $6.99! What a steal. Ebenezer ordered too much food today. Sebastian cleaned it up though so we's all good in the hood.

First blog

Yet another blog casted upon the world wide web? Why? I suppose it's narcissism more than anything for me. This is my justification entry. Me thinketh that my goal is to do a weekly blog or so of whatever stuff that comes to mind. Topics will range from beer guzzling (Belgians primarily) to child raising Cain at time...haha. Anyways, hope the readership will enjoy...whomever you may be...could just be me...hee hee.
